May have a lot of fishing time very soon!
It looks like I may be getting laid off from work within the next few weeks. Obviously I am hoping that I dodge it but my gut feeling is that isn't a possibility so Britney and I are as ready as we can be for what is coming. The company is being pretty good about the deal with giving us a pretty good severance package that will come to 6 weeks pay (one weeks pay for every year I have worked there. I have been there over 5 years so they rounded up to 6 years), 2 weeks pay in lieu of notice, my pension, 120 hours of vacation pay, 8 hours personal time pay, and 12 hours of sick pay. It will be a bad deal if it happens but we have been down to 24 hour work weeks for a while now and this severance pay is based on 40 hour weeks so that's dang near twice as much pay as we have been getting lately. I haven't been happy there for quite some time and we have talked about me finding another job so this is a chance for me to make a change that will make benefit us in the long run and make me a lot happier. We will make the best out of a bad situation and I am excited to go wherever this experience takes us.

dang kory, hate to hear that buddy. hopefully things will turn out for the best in the end. we got a talking to by our dept head a couple days ago. things are gonna get worse here too. there may or may not be layoffs at the city. when local governments, state, county and feds start laying off, things are bad. i am worried about it. we need the insurance for lisa even though she is on medicare already.
we'll pray for you and britney as well as us. keep us informed ok?

Thanks guys, I am just going to roll with the punches and see what happens. I am not going to worry about it because I know that in the end we will look back and laugh about how it was one of the best things that life threw at us, even though we can't see what is so great about it right now. Besides worrying about it wouldn't make it anything less than what it is anyways so life is a journey and and I am just waiting to see where this takes us.

It will definitely end up that way, Kory.
Life doesn't keep good people down long if they work at it. Best wishes for you, Britney, and Laken.

Man, I hate to hear that, Kory. But it sounds like you've got the right attitude about it. You got any ideas or leads for a new career?
We'll be keeping you in our prayers. Good luck.

It's good that you're staying positive about the situation and not letting it stress you out. Good luck to the two of you bud.

Really not sure, but something with normal hours and being off weekends would be a plus. However I wouldn't mind working weekends if I could make a living out of my bass boat somehow

Thanks Danny, I am confident that this well end up being a positive thing in the end. There is a chance that I won't get laid off but they have laid off twice in the last 2 years and haven't hired back anyone so there have been a lot of people who were under me in seniority that are gone now so it doesn't look good.

Kory,
I love the attitude about the situation. Hopefully this is just a door being opened for your future.

I really hate hearing about anyone loosing their jobs in this market, however it sounds like you have a good perspective and I have no doubt you will get through all this ok in the end. I've been worried about my job for a couple years also but thank God I still have it. Best wishes my friend.

As one door closes it usually means another door is opening......Theres no doubt in my mind that there's something better in your future.....Keep your chin up and your eye's on the road and you'll be ready for it when it comes.
In the mean time throw up a flyer in the local baitshops advertising Thunderstruck fishing guide services......Know what I mean?

Sorry to hear about the possibility of that happening. Look at the bright side of it. If it does happen you will have time off at the best time of the year for fishing. It's a lot better than if it was in January.

Kory , it sucks to hear that man . Just keep your head up and it will get better , we went through a rough patch like that a couple years back and while it took a while to dig ourselves out of it we are finally starting to see the light again . Again man good luck with everything .

Thanks for the encouraging words guys, I really appreciate it. It's like I told Britney there is no sense in worrying about it before we know anything for sure, that would be like the tail wagging the dog. We will just take it one day at a time and see where we end up.

Hate to hear about this Kory. You got any idea for a partnership? This Singapore deal is wearing thin on my skin too.
