Hanging it up.
I've decided to put the fishing tackle and boat away for winter tomorrow. Never a good day. So for the next 5 months, I'll be listening to what you guys in the warmer climates are doing. Actually, I'd planned on one more outting tomorrow morning, but tonight I'm not feeling well at all and am very tired. So sleeping in, eatting a good breakfast, and getting things put away in time to watch the Irish take on BYU. Then the next couple weekends, I'll be getting things ready around the home here for winter. I hope there are a couple nice weekends left for working outside! Luckily, there is a lake close to my house I can fish from shore, so I'll probably do a little of that for an hour or two here or there. Anyways, I'm done crying on your shoulders. You all have a great weekend.

I feel your pain, Keith. I'm 7+ months away from bass fishing again here in MN, but I am consoled by the fact that I was able to spend 49 FULL days and 28 PARTIAL days at our cabin on the lake over the last 6 months. I was lucky enough to be able to fish almost every one of those days, so now it's just a matter of being patient and waiting for next year's bass opener to roll around.

Kieth,
I know I'm not far behind Dean and you but 'THEY' say we are going to have a great week of weather. Like high sixties. Some nights only dropping to high 50s. The weather though is only half the challenge. Finding the fish is very tough for me right now. Like five days ago I made myself a goal. I have 14 rigged poles all that caught 'some' fish. So my goal is to catch at least ONE fish on each before I call it quits. As with most my plans, it isn't going as planned. The day I made the goal was the start of the very WORST week of fishing ALL year. And everyone, well almost everyone knows what a crazy weather year it's been. This is not a good fall to fish shore cause due to little small rains this year I have no CLUE where the deeper water should be. That's reachable from shore anyways. No idea where these so called cold weather loving smallmouth went. Now I do have a back up plan though. The OLD GUYS who trout fish the ponds EVERY morning moved to panfish now. Inland trout is closed now. And they found them...and I found the old guys. I told them there is NO WAY to hide from me. I'll fish ANY water, regardless of it's history, and I do. Especially this year. I've been force to fish 12 new bodies of water to find the fish this year. I really enjoyed the challenge of finding fish the first outing on a totally new body of water. I've fished 3 rivers and the rest non- moving water. So I'm figuring I can tie a 2-4lb test leader on any of the set ups and catch SUNNIES. Almost forgot, two setups caught fish. They are now resting with the Monkey.

Sorry to hear that, Keith.
I was hoping to get some fishing in this weekend, with the good weather, although I doubt it's going to happen. DEFINITELY feel your pain in regards to our warmer state brothers. Offseason is for the birds!

I'm giving it till the end of the month before I pull it out and put the blind on it. Luckily my buddy keeps his garaged and will fish until the ramp is iced in.

Lol harbingers of doom.Aint you guys heard just a short distance south(for many not all) is open water Ky lake its open year round not hard just cold n wet.
Ps bring a good wetsuit or rain suit either one.As the lake is attempting to climb in the boat with you. For those reasons alone I put mine up for about 6-8 weeks. |

It sucks that half you guys are getting ready to shut it down for the year. This is when the brutally hot summer here starts to pay off. We have a cold front coming through tomorrow evening that will cause our temperatures to plummet all the way down to the low to mid 60's for the high over the weekend. It won't get really cold for more than a day or 2 at a time until mid to late December and even then, it won't be anywhere near freezing, for the most part. 103-108 for 2-3 months kind of balances it out though.

I don't know whats worse. Brutally cold winters or brutally hot summers. I think I'll take the hot summers. At least heavy snow and ice ism't an issue.

Just might do that this weekend. They are expecting our first snow fall of the season saturday night! Won't be much of a snow event I'm sure, but still. It's darn cold out there.
