That link I posted is the proper way. Just be sure to wet the line before you cinch in down. Otherwise when you tighten it up the friction of pulling it tight will weaken it.

Either one will work-do what works for you.

ive heard that spit actually attracts fish, or it just neutralizes other offensive odors that fish wouldnt like, im not sure if this is true but ive read it in a few places.

i read that using a swivel or even the wrong knot will mess up the motion of some lures. so i tried it out in shallow water and it sure does, so it would be better to tie the line directly to the lure.

i dont know about spit. but try berkeley powerbait scents in the bottles. they mask any unattractive odors, and it attracts fish. you can get em at walmart.

i dont know if the catfish one works for bass. but the bass bottle is very effective. also if you go trout fishing, try out the powerbait salmon eggs, they are a good buy its about $2 per bottle.

Cranybait A way I have found to make spooling easier is to put whole bulk spool of line in a container full of warm to hot tap water (fully submerge). Let it sit there for about 5 minutes (helps get rid of some of the memory). Then tie your normal clinch or uni knot (gonna get to that next) and start reeling with the bulk spool in the container or pail. This will help get rid of most line twist and puts tension on your line for you. Next your uni-knot is great for tying on lures and tackle!! Use that all the time offshore, inshore, and freshwater. Great knot and can never come undone. And dont fall into the temptation of using snap swivels. Tie on EVERYTHING.
Hope this helps and welcome to the board and to bass fishing. Also stay with your spinning for a while. Thats all I use. Chris |

It works for me haven't had any trouble with it at all. Also another good knot to look up for better action on topwater baits such as the spook is the loop knot. Excellent knot for better action. Caught some nice seatrout on the spook and loop back in November!!
