I am leaning toward a Triton myself. My neighbor as a Triton tr 196 with a mercury 200 optimax and that ran real nice.

I've got a Yamaha and can't complain, no problems yet. I would suggest an EFI motor though, especially if gas prices get back up where they were last year. The up front cost over a carb can be worth it.

My Skeeter also uses Yamaha 2stroke power, it has amazing torque and can shoot you out of the hole in no time flat. My Yammer came with a six-pack carb that can sure suck down the fuel, my next one will be HPDI.

LOL Ok bama...........ITS THE ONE THATS PAID FOR............on a serious note he needs to take a better look around and not limit himself to the first 2 he mentioned. There are diffeent strokes for different folks out there. If he is looking for speed or big water capability or whatever that will narrow his list down. After that I would look at the boats on his narrowed list that only fit with the ammentities that he wants. This process of narrowing down the list usually puts you in a boat that you will really enjoy. Jumping into a boat that someone has told ya was good for this or good for that usually leaves you looking for another boat and usually pretty quick.

well if ya ask me id go ranger... i have one myself and even other than that i think its one of the best boats you can buy. its been said you can cut a ranger in half and it wont sink. other than that id only want to go with two other ones that you dont have listed. skeeter bass cat. i think a triton is just a name everyone goes for and nitro too. have you looked at a javelin? ive never been in one but they liik like decent fishable boats.hope this helps good luck

I believe that Bass Cat makes the highest quality boat. They won their 5th JD Power & Associate award in a row this year. The construction on these boats is awesome. The deck of the boat is laid on the hull, not a cap like all other boats. Everything is glassed in. They are the only bass boat company that is still family owned, and the owners will fix ANY problem you have with the boat. When I get deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan again, I'll buy one when I get back, probably the Sabre FTD Marty Stone... My tournament partner has one and I love it.

Got to agree with Zooker. Checked out the 18' Bee (Phoenix) with the 150 Merc for less than $25K back in Jan. It's a sweet boat.

Bass Cat is a great boat, Can't beat the ride. They seem to hold there value. Also Skeeter boats are a really nice boat.

I think Laser has a good take on this one the best thing to do is figure out what you want out of a boat and start looking from there. I want SPEED ,GREAT looks and QUALITY.I am not a cookie cutter kinda guy.So I went with an Allison. There are several good brands mentioned in here.Check em out at dealers to see what you like .Boat shows are good for this.Rangers are good and if I ever start packin a chain saw with me to get up them creeks I will definately consider one.

I purchased a winner Z660. Post may not be in the right area
I am new to the forum.
I purchased a winner z660 and never heard of it. It is a 17 foot with a 115 hp. It planes good and top speed is 55 to 60 at 5700 rpm. It is the first fiberglass boat I owed. The boat is a 1987 model and don't leak a drop. I have a 21 pitch prop. With this info. can anyone give me info about the boat and do you think it is setup right. Thanks Ron |

http://www.bassboatcentral.com/winner.htm here are some setups and owners. LA Bullet
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Winners were the 1st wood free boats. They were well built. But like half the boat mfgrs's ofa that era, the luxury tax of 1991 put them out of business. Several excellent bassboat makers went bankrupt in the early/mid 1990's due to the luxury tax, as did many marine dealers, |
