I've found that just about any bait that is dragged across a bed slowly and or paused right on it, will generally get taken by a Bass. For me since I need to skip almost as often, a drop shot or shaky head isn't the way to go. I keep 4 setups ready to go:
1-a weightless 4 or 5 inch stickbait 2-a 1/8 oz bullet pegged wt 4 inch Hula Grub 3-a 1/4 oz bullet pegged wt Sweet Beaver/Ugly Utter/4 inch creature 4-a 1/8 oz ball jig with a 3 inch Brewers Grub. That's all I take and all I need. Last trip out we boat 39 Bass. Half Smallie and half Largies.
