I use rm on my pline fc. Coated line. I like it. Less memory, line twists, and I gain distwoance on my casts. Idk why or how it works but it seems to work for me.

I have been using P-Line for 6 years now. Before it was not really bad but it would coil like a snake at times and was worse when the line was new. Still use P-Line for its strength but the KVD L & L makes it more managable and cast further distances. Before the KVD sometimes had to use heavier lure than wanted to to get distance and accuracy with it(instead of 3/8oz use 1/2oz). Now throw very light lures on most baitcasters without any problems.

Won't spool up without it, and after every trip out.

The only negative that I have ever heard mentioned about the KVD L&L was that it would discolor your line. I have not experienced this, but was wondering if anyone else had, and are there any other negatives that have not been mentioned?

I have a bottle of KVD. I don't use it on my reels very often because i just really don't have that much trouble with coils. Now I'm not saying my line doesn't get coils, it does, it just usually works itself out after the first few casts. If I have not used that particular reel in a while, it will be bad enough that i grab the KVD and give it a spray. I usually make a cast and then give it a few sprays as i reel it in. The other thing that I use KVD for is to lube knots. I'm not sure if it's true or not, but a long time ago one of the old pro's said that we should not use spit to lube knots. His reason was that spit has acids in to break down food and he thought that could actually damage line. Again, I have no idea if thats true or if it was just specualtion, but it's one of those things that after i heard it, it just kinda stuck in the back of my head. So now, when i tie a knot, I grab the kvd and spray the knot before I cinch it down. It seems to be a good lube for that.

I have had the same bottle of KVD for two seasons now, almost gone, but I spray it on the night before I go fishing, most of the time I do not have to use it again, but once in a while I hit it with another shot or two.

Yea Im still on my same bottle for two years..Spray the night before as well. Not being an aerosol makes it last longer.....I know I bought several cans of Reel Magic in the past that I went through pretty quickly.

I can usually get about 4-5 trips before I feel I need to spray again depending what the conditioning were.
Ive also never had/seen any line discoloration?

It has become a crutch for my fishing lines.....and it makes the cats stay out of my rod room=)

I guess it would depend on the type and brand of line you were using on how much or often a guy needed to spray it down. I use allot of the Pline products, and they tend to have a little memory, but very manageable with a shot or two of the L&L.

Out of curiosity what line are you using?

I can usually get a bottle to last over a year. I try to spray it on my reels the night before going out and I soak a rag in it to run my line through when I spool up. I don't really see any added benefit to using more than that. If you use it the night before, you don't really need anymore the next day. I mainly use Pline copolys. I haven't noticed any discoloration either.

@T5 mostly suffix mono and trilene xl and one with trilene 100%. I think I go thru so much cause I use it every time I respool which is a LOT.

here is something that i have used for years, and you will just have to try it and see if you have as good or better results than what you are currently using. it is nothing but spray silicone. much cheaper than all the line whatevers on the market, and most likely silicone is the main ingredient in all the other brands. at least for me, it really does seem to settle line down. you get a further cast from the line being slicker, and from some of the silicone ending up on your spool and level wind. also it really help with line freeze up in the winter.

When I go on vacation to my cabin in the summer I will frog fish the pads almost all day. I use KVD L&L and to me it makes casting easier. I usually use 3 different rods for frog fishing and sometimes apply it twice a day. I use Power Pro mostly and it improves distance and managability.

Nothing. The reel magic is good to temporarily lube a worm gear and things like that but as a line conditioner, I don't think it works. Same for KVD. The best thing I've found to straighten my line, especially on a spinning reel, is to take the lure off, let all the line out behind the boat, drag the line slowly behind the boat, reel it all in, repeat and then fish. Repeat as needed.

Two different issues, one is caused by line twist, the other is caused by line memory. I can see how you would think that KVD L&L is a bust if you are trying to use it to correct line twist.

Kevin, human saliva is actually slightly alkaline. The chemical compounds in saliva that help break down food do it mostly by organic reactions, and not acid-base reactions.

Do not use silicone as a lube on any part of a reel. It actually acts as a degreaser. Reel Magic, WD-40 and other silicone sprays are basically all the same. KVD L&L makes fluoro more manageable imo.
