Did somebody say "chine walk"? I run an '00 TR-21 with a 225HP Yammie, the chine starts at about 67 GPS so I am happy to run 65 and not have to deal with it unless I have to. The boat will do 70 - 73 depending on load and which prop I'm running, but 65 on the water is fast enough most days.

Man...my 115 Optimax wouldn't even get my Avalanche to 20 mph yesterday. Of course I couldn't get it up on plane, due to me and my buddy's weight, half a tank of gas, and the 250 lbs of water we put in the livewell after we started catching fish. We went way over the rated load of the boat. I finally discovered the true power limits of that motor. We had to pretty much idle an hour back to the ramp. I'm gonna love it when I get a 175.

Be careful folks about the speeds you claim to be able to run. There are formulas that will prove or disprove your speeds.

Hi all, my first post too.
I just bought a 78 Chysler 16.3 fin and fish bass boat. On the speedo flapper in slightly choppy water, the speedo said I was going 43 mph. That was carrying 390 lbs of two men, 12 gallons of gas. Motor is a 78 Merc 115..and I think I have a little miss on one of the cyclinders. I do have a hand held GPS, but left it in the truck. I'm not sure if its accurate or not. Nice Forums btw, Ron |

Depending on what prop you have and the condition of it plus needing to know the gear ratio in the lower unit a real good guess would be high 60's That boat will fly when set correctly and propped out right with a set of 1:67-1 gears. No bama I wasnt referring to you bud. I dont reference names publicly so that they wont be ridiculed......thety know who they are.
