Trilene is very castable, has almost no memory, is cheap, but is not very strong.
Stren, on the other hand, is not the best castable line and has a little bit of memory, but it is super strong. Stren works good for most bass fishing but for panfishing or light bass fishing Trilene is best.

I have used Trilene for years on the mono. But I have been throwing it for probably 15 years and never thought about changing. It just did the job better than Stren back then and I haven't looked back. As far as braid, I love the Sufix. And I am still on the look out for a good flouro. I have tried Vanish and Trilene 100%. I liked the 100% at first but it is causing massive turret spells of anger here lately on the long ball.

I tried Stren braid and hated it. Went back to Power Pro. As for mono, I stick with Trilene XL and Silver Thread.

hmm... old thread, but interesting opinions.
Stren vs Trilene: Stren used to be my favorite, but over the last year, it has become just like trilene, so I'd have to say neither of them. Sufix mono all the way. Stren vs. Powerpro: Powerpro hands down, but I still like Sufix performance braid better. BB

I use either Stren Original or Trilene XL, for many years, with lots of satisfaction
I had a run With Cableas Proline, but in the end it was crap, or they changed suppliers. |

I can't speak a lot for the mono as I almost exclusively use floro anymore. But with braid I would have to agree with everyone who has said PowerPro. At it's price point it can't be beat. Sufix performance braid is the best on the market in my opinion though.

I switched from Trilene XT to Suffix Siege....Love it!!...It really seems to have less memory and doesnt kink near as much..... As for casting,I cant tell really tell any difference..but Its still extremely good.

Out of the two I would say Trilene XL but I really like Suffix Elite for mono. I've been using Yo-Zuri hybrid and P-Line CX for awhile now and really like both of them. They are super strong, sensitive and have low memory if you stay with say, 12# and under. As far as braid goes I like Power Pro.

Power pro: on my pitchn' rod/reel backed with stren mono (lol)
Only If i missplaced the tape that comes with Power pro line, Electrical tape is probably better than Stren mono for backing. ~scorch!!! Burnnnn 12+ lb Trilene Smooth cast mono: Spinnerbait rod, esp im im waking the baits high in the water. (green or clear color) 8-10 lb 100% floro gold transistion: Spinning rod. (sunlight hits this line makes it easy to see just out of the water. Trilene mono/Floro depending on what im throwing. ~woot! 100th post!
