Rodman how do you find the big girls. And will the water temp start to cool since it seems like fall finally arrived this past weekend and also looks as if low pressure may move in this weekend.

when its hot or cold, think deep and you'll find the big ones. Also, if you have a reservoir that has any spring fed creeks, check there as well (in the spring fed areas). Just look for the water that is a little bit warmer. Also look wherever there are thick weeds extending fairly deep in the water. The weeds will retain some of the heat and you'll find fish suspending just underneath the weeds.

Got something else to tell you too rob. Got out on the IWC this past weekend. Caught about 7 trout on 7 casts in a row. All on a jitterbug. My dad caught one with his frozen mullet. I think I might have him with the artifcial sp? lure thing.

your pop had a frozen mullet? ouch bet that hurt... lol
we know where rodman shops for those big gals -jenny craig of course- during the winter deep structure is the best bet.. creek channels and currant areas. moving water is always warmer than still water it might be warmer by a degree or 2 but it is warmer. fish feel the cold they can tell 1-2 degree differance .. zooker

I fish tournaments 12 months a year. I practice up no less than twice per week. In 2006 our club voted to restrict fishing with in one week of the tournament. This was to allow for those who work all week to get there fair share of practice time. I didn't vote for this new rule, and when asked why, I stated that I would have been the only person in the room to go against it.
For the most part, I quit hunting a few years back. The funs over right after you pull the trigger. Think about it.

I can see where not sore mouthing some fish may result in better tournament weigh ins, however I don't agree with limiting how much prefishing you can do. The federation tournaments in Ohio have the same rule once you are competing at the state level and on up. I like as much time on the water as possible, esp when you have to travel long distances and get to the water a day before the tourney hits, at least you can scout the areas out, I dont think you're even allow to do that in federation tournies..

WOW! I get to fish and hunt year round. The only problem I got is figuring which sunscreen to use in December vs. June. Tough decisions.

Good size crappie JB, up here in norhtern ohio the crappies have really turned on in these small reservoirs, since the cool down. I went last night to that same local pond, crappie fishing this time and landed 16 keepers, the biggest being 13 inches!! The bass have been slacking off here alot, but im still hitting the crappies hard!
