Default lights in livewell

I want to know if putting a light in your livewell benefits the fish? Does it have any soothing type of effect?

Not sure about "soothing" them, but if you put it beneath the water, they won't panic when you open the door and your hand is headed their way.

I would think lights in the livewell would have the opposite effect. They are probably the most calm in total darkness.

Not really a livewell deal, but a buddy of mine that I used to drag big shiners around central Florida with years ago, installed a strobe light in his big circular bait tank. He swore up and down that it gave those BIG shiners some kind of brain damage.....made them freak completely out. I'm convinced they just freaked when they left the 45 deg tank water and hit the 80 deg lake. But hey he believed it and it worked for him. BTW this is the same guy from Ca. that called me the other week and said he hadn't fished in 5 yrs.

No wonder chilling out with psychedelic lights and music, then turned out to the cruel hard world.
Darkness calms fish, light wakes them up,but helps a human see to cull etc.if dark.
So if its dark and dont desire to grab a hold of a disgorged snake in the live well then let there be light.

Or lip a bluefish. My Mako came with lights in both wells. Bait and fish well are light up with the flip of a switch.

Have four also that light the deck area too.
