'95 Dodge Ram with a 318 and auto tranny. An absolute lemon by any standard. Stay away from MOPAR, stay away! Seldom does a week go by where I dont have a new problem, even after spending 3k on a new engine and another k on other parts and labor. Should have bought a ford.

Flfireman, do you thing the cold air intake makes a difference? I've thought about getting one (or one of the edelbrock round filters) to replace the stock setup on my truck once I get it consistently running smoothly.

You guys that think Ford builds a good product-just keep on buying them. The more Ford sells, the longer I stay in business, and the more money I have to spend on fishing.
I work in the transmission business by the way. I LOVE me some FORDS! I have about 13 of them here on the lot right this minute.. Here are some facts for you: # 1 car in the nation for needing transmissions-Ford Taurus # 2 car Mercury Sable (should be lumped in with the Taurus as it is the same car) #3 Ford Focus #4 Mazda 626 (you knew that they used Ford transmissions right?) #5 Honda Accord '02 & earlier # 6 Full size Ford cars to include Lincoln Town Cars, Grand Marquis, Etc; # 7 Ford Trucks Includes full size and the Ranger. If the ranger were not included the Full size truck would not be in the top 10. # 8 Front wheel drive Chevrolet cars-most of them share the same trans. # 9 Mitsubishi Galant #10 Nissan Altima-DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY OTHER NISSAN PRODUCT! # 11 Chevrolet Trucks (S10 & full size, Tahoe, Suburban, Escalade all use the same transmission unlike FORD). These figures are generated nationally from data collected from 1,400 different stores. All 50 states are represented. I encourage all of you to run out and buy a Ford product. Not only are you supporting US jobs on the production line, but you are also keeping more Americans employed in the after-market parts business as well. For the record, I own a Ford Ranger. I don't dis-like Ford at all. I just would not own a Ford with an automatic transmission. In my business I can get it rebuilt for the cost of parts.. I still won't own one with an automatic. Of the Domestically produced trucks, we see Dodge the least. When the Dodges do come in, it is usually due to failed/failing governor pressure solenoid, and transducer (switch). 2 easily replaced items. |
