Minkota or motorguide
Correct me if I'm wrong. The biggest 12v trolling motor for Minkota bow mount is 55 lb thrust and biggest for motorguide is 54 I believe. I do like the foot pedals better on the minkota's. The variable speed selector is only available on 24v motors. Do they make a roller variable selector for 12 v motors? If I was to get a minkota 24v trolling motor I was really interested in the 65 lbs thrust model, but it looks like they are going to discontinue that particular model. OR at least that is what I've been hearing. What or some pros and cons with minkota or motorguide. I'm probably going to be putting on a 16 ft. aluminum bass boat.

it is a personal choice really. i have two moterguides and an omc. i prefure that style of foot pedal over the minnkota. i use a 5200 12 volt proseries on my 16 foot stratos..have had zero problems from it in 3 years of useage.. the 4600 fresh water series i have on the terry moves it well but once i have the 71 omc troller back it will be replaced..the omc is out being rewund..

I've always had MinnKota so I guess I am just used to them, but when I use my dad's boat with a Motorguide, I just don't like it.
I like the foot pedal better on the MinnKota and it just feels better built to me.
