Trolling Motor
I have a quick question for you all. I'm getting ready to buy a trolling motor for my 21 footer. I was thinking of buying the Minn Kota Max Pro 101 with a 60 in shaft.
I guess my question is do you think a 60 in shaft is to long??????? |

yes if you're going bassfishing in skinny water, however is there an adjustment to make it shorter? and is this a bowmounted unit?

It is a bow mounted, and it also has a height adjustment. But the head unit will stick up quite a bit

I was thinking a longer shaft might keep the prop in the water more on choppy days. I know I have to give up one or the other

What would be the problem with it sticking up a little. Are you sitting down, and skipping/sidearming stuff all the time, then go with a smaller shaft. If you stand up mostly, and it isn't in the way of your casts, then a little higher shouldn't be a problem. Just a observation, but when sitting in my tin can the height makes a huge difference, when running my buddies boat, the height isn't a problem(18' Champion). I do skip plastics a lot, but when standing, that isn't a problem, and probably 80 percent of the time you will have it all the way down anyways. When in skinny water, then you will have to deal with it. If you fish bigger waters, then the 60" would be my choice. If you fish more smaller waters/rivers where the waves aren't usually a problem, then get the 52". It's all up to you, these are just my observations.
