Crankbait Fishin in 38 degree weather and 39 degree water
Got about 25 today out crankbait fishing. The DT series are awesome crankbaits. All fish were caught in bettween docks in 15 feet of water. I was freezing my nuts off all day. They would hit the cranks as I finesed them trough brush piles. THe DT is probably the best crank I have ever used at getting through brush. I think a lot of the guys would hang up the old crankbait rod but man that's all they wanted today. I used line and lure condtitioner to keep the ice out of the guides all day. Went up to a shallow flat where there was no wind and got 4 on cranks in the pocket. I am totally windblow. Face all red but it was awesome. I stuck 7 in like 9 minutes off this one brush pile in the morning. You needed a slow steady retrieve.

THere was ice in the coves in some areas that I didn't fish.
I tried c riging beavers, worms, tubes, dropshotted everything but they wouldn't touch it. The one brush pile I hammered them on payed off a couple of other times throughout the day.

We're you using the DT16 or DT10's? I bought a dozen of each but haven't caught crap with them. I figured they we're a cold water crank just cause of the way they swim. Gladd to hear someone has done something with them.

Acutally both. I use a baby bass color and a shad with black back color. Depending on brush I was fishing I would throw one or the other. yeah they are a cold water crank I believe because they got a tighter shimmey. I like the minus for warmer weather. I usually go with a 8 minus or 4 minus in the summer and spring. Got to get the baits down deep this time of the year.

I didn't buy those baits because they looked wide bodied. The wider the body the wider the wiggle.but your implying that they don't wiggle wide at all ?Being Fritt's name is on them, he must have messed around and weighted them .Zooker, I need help on this one ?Tell me what you think, will those stupid baits work up here ? Or am I about to waste money on them.Try a Bomber flat A series when the water is colder or the bass shut down from a rapid weather change.P N J

I would say they wobble about a 3/4 inch out on either side but they are bigger cranks.

i own them all they all work they are NOT just for cold weather. they are a struture fishing crank trees, stumps, rock legdes, rockpiles, brush piles. the bigger ones dt 10-16 have big lips that let them move through brush piles better. hands down one of the best casting cranks on the market even the small dt4 cast like a rock. i tend to use the dt4-6 more than the other two.but i have a dozen or so dt 10-16. the shad color is kickin parrot is good hot mustard is good. white with a black back is ok. blue shad works the 2 fire tiger colors really shine in muddy water..
fritts loves his poes 400's and when he designed these baits they throw almost exactly like them.. zooker
