I have an AVC70MHF St.Croix rod coming to my house on Monday!!! This rod is the new and improved version on the Avid Series, 7 footer, MH, Fast action. For only $180.00 + ($21, 3 day shipping) I will have my baby in a few days!!! Monday night I am going to my local Cabela's to pick up the reel, either a Pflueger President WLPL or a Abu Garcia REVO SX-L!!!What do ya' think?

I think that I am the only person I have talked to that does not like the Revo reels. I have a Revo SX-HS and do not like the feel of the body in my hand, the spool tension setting, or the braking. If you ever get up this way let me know and you can test drive it, also I would like to sell it.
I'm thinking of possibly hauling over and fishing Lake Ovid north of Lansing on Sunday, if that is any closer to you.

A flipping switch? You know you dont need it when I havent even heard of such thing as a flipping switch before and I can flip just fine and dandy...

I've got several reels with the flipping switch, but never use them.
A flipping switch locks the spool in place as soon as you lift your thumb off the thumb bar. I've always let line out after my pitch and leave the spool free until I turn the handle to start the retrieve.

I on the other hand use mine constantly. It's actually a thumbar on my Castaic's and I absolutely love it. I always try to engage it on my other reels by instinct, and realize I can't

I didn't make it out there, had to fix the furnace at home since it got cold. Did you give any look at the Shimano Citica? It is centrifugal braking where the Revo is magnetic.
Or if you in the spending mood get a Chronarch 50Mg, my personal favorite.
