extending a power wire on a depth finder

bevofox BassFishin.Com Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Posts: 13	extending a power wire on a depth finder I just bought a humminbird depth finder for the front of my boat. Naturally the power cable running from unit to the battery is way too short. Are there certain gauge wires I need to use to correctly splice to lengthen the cable? I probably need a good 10 to 12 feet more to run to the battery. Thanks
