500gph is recomended for any boat under 17 feet. i have a 850gph bilge in my stratos but that cause it was the only one they had..
i like the rule pumps. one thing that will definatly harm them is fishing line.. a small 2" piece can burn one up.. zooker

well let me talk from experience...........get the biggest bilge pump you can afford/and or will fit in your boat.........i hit a pipe from an old duck blind and the water was instantly coming up back thru the drain in the main floor....huge hole in the boat.....while i had a millon gph hole in my boat, and there was no way any bilge pump was going to handle all that water..i'm glad i didn't have a kmart bilge pump in my boat......now my new boat has 2 pumps...one is a back-up.

um in the older boats the bilge pumped in to the splash well and drained out from there. look and make sure the splash well has a drain hole. before you run the pipe.. i agree the thru hull was a good idea..i wont be drillin a hole thru my hull to put a thru hull fitting in.. thanks though..the oringinal bilge pump piping in mine went up to the splash well and thru the thin glass in the side of the splash well using basicly a thru hull fitting..

DEFINATELY go with as BIG as you have space for. I ALWAYS replace mine with 1000gph pumps not only on the bilge's but also on the aerators. You always need the capability to move water and move it fast. Get caught in some of the storms or rains that I have and you will see what I am talking bout. I been in boats before that had 2" of water in the bottom and the bilge be running wide open. NOT MINE.
