Most people think if their rods are in the garage then their line will be ok. Most garages are not climate controlled, meaning it has no AC or Heat running to it so with a steel garage door on it with the sun beating on it will actually make the inside of the garage hotter than the outside. Before I had the climate controlled storage that I do now, I would store all line inside including taking the reels off the rods to bring them in as well. Put them in a shoe box in the bottom of your closet

For years I've been storing all my bulk line in an old cooler. Think I got the idea from a Hank Parker episode.

I too cooler my line.
With today's lines so advanced, if you re-spool yearly I feel that's all the care I need to do. Add line lube and I'm done. My car ALWAYS has spooled poles in it. Never moves without at least one setup in the car. Frankly I got one setup still in the car....just in-case. I don't think line deterioration has ever been a challenge for me. Heck I usually go through two re-spools per reel per season now do to reties , breakoffs, ect. None the less, WillC thanks.
