Deep water Jika rig?
Tony's thread was great, thanks to him for the inspiration. Now for the Dale Hollow gathering we'll be fishing deep water - I do believe - so with that in mind I came up with a slight variation to the Jika that we've been discussing the last few weeks. I'm calling it the Big Johnson version of the Jika.
I've tank tested it and it falls with the bait standing up at about 45 degrees. The big females ought to inhale it without even thinking about it. Last edited by bassboogieman; 03-30-12 at 11:58 AM. |

I think that rig is very cool, I would love to see a picture from the end so I can see how your hardware is attached.
How deep do you think you will be fishing? What size jigs do people usually use in this area? This post give me a couple of ideas that I may try and use myself.

That's hilarious
I was thinking of something similar but with 2 baits instead of 2 weights. I think it might work well with Senkos or some other slender bait. Craws might work well too though, it would look like a 2 for 1 to a big bass.

This 2 weight rig could very well be called The Bull rig, Or the single man rig as once you get married your nuts are in a sling.

I used a 3oz.,8/0 EWG rig w/ a gulp eel last summer, not for going deep, but for the surf striper fishing. Never thought to use it for deep freshwater applications.

I like this idea. I wonder if these two weights bang against each other and make noise?
