air rifles
Well lately, my friend's dad has been obsessed with his air rifle and shoots it daily, sniper style out of his bathroom window at soem beer cans he has set up throughout the back yard. Of course my friend and I have been taking part, and I'm pretty much an addict as well (after outshooting him three times out of four)
I was wondering if any of you guys shot these, and had any suggestions on getting one for myself. Id like to be in the 100-200 range if possible. Something accurate and easy to use. http://www.airgundepot.com/gamo-whisper-22.html i was thinking something like this. I'm not sure what the different types are, but my neighbor just pulls the barrel down (kinda like folds the gun in half) and puts a pellet in, then snaps the barrel back up and it's ready to shoot. easy n simple

I'm pretty sure they're illegal in Jersey or you need a permit.I think you can buy them over in Pa. though.

We've got one. I shoot it occasionally, but prefer clay pidgeons with the a shotgun. I shoot the 20 gauge most of the time since we never have 12ga. ammo, lol. I'd like a nice little 410 to play around with eventually.

Hm, gotta love New Jersey. You'd think in a state where rabbis and politicians are being arrested left and right, a kid shooting an air rifle in the back yard wouldn't matter. Luckily, I have an uncle in PA

I used to shoot a Beeman .25 a lot, but that is a little high in price. I'd like to find one again though. I have not really been impressed with any of the $1-200 airguns I have seen but I would really like to get one. Shooting those is a lot of fun.

during spring...we get a bunch of field mice that like to borrow in the backyard...sometimes they make nest in our kitchen.....i keep my replica 357 co2 pistol ready to rock when they come around.....last time i had to pop one that nested in my stove!!.....the funniest part is my wife shrieking when they would run by her........one run by a grocery bag on the ground, and i played the old ''pretend its in the bag and throw it at my wife'' game.....so i screamed, threw the bag at her,and she screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeamed!!....i was laughing so hard till i looked at her......she had tears running down her face.......i never felt more like an a**hole.......
and then i did it again,hahaha....j/k

I got me one of these .22s and it is the bomb. So quiet and accurate. It costs some though. High powered air from a scuba tank.

Just hit up k mart and get you a .177 cal pump crossman. Air rifles are like everything, you can drop a grand real quick, but for your purposes, you'll be fine with the 80 Wally world set up and you can spend the rest on ammo and throw a scope on if you want. You can spend the crazy money later if it winds up bein your thing.

Is that what they sell in Walmarts n Kmarts in Florida? Man I gotta get out of this state... I haven't seen anything of the sort around here. there are just a couple of bb guns at Dicks, and thats about it. Whatever I get, however I get it, I'm definately getting a scope on it... so much cooler
P.S. Jooleyen that thing looks CRAZY... some military type stuff there hahaha

I have sold most of my powder burners and if I'm not fishin or workin the dog...I'm shooting my air rifle.
I have a Benjamin Discovery PCP in .22 that will not a fox squirrel off a limb at 60 yds. It too fills from, a scuba tank. I have several break barrel rifles and an old sheridan blue streak as well. look up benjamin discovery on youtube and you can see plenty of vids. The main guy is the U.S. that promotes them is a guy who goes by the username "Varmintair" on youtube. He also sells a video about airgun hunting the ground squirrel. Ron |

We've got a shooting team at the school I work at. They're NJROTC and set a National Team record twice in the last three years. Last year, '07-'08, I had the best NJROTC shooter in the country in my Spts Med class. Kind of cool.

If school was in session I'd let you know what pellet guns the team shoots with or what some of the members prefer. We don't get going until next month.

i was talking to my neighbor's uncle a couple of days ago... he told me that those were the guns we shot in his yard a few months ago at cans. only thing is there were no scopes, hence i hit like 3 out of 50 shots... would be fun, although the pumping got annoying real quick

Benjamins are an excellent option as well, I prefer my .257 Weatherby but this is Texas. You need to move to the south cranky, I think youd fit in better. JJ |

Well I'm headed off to PA tomorrow, so I'll probably pick one up there and let ya all know. I keep telling my mom I want to move down south... better fishing, slower life. people are too uptight around here... Love the excitement of the city, the freedom of the country. here in the burbs, we got nothing. Therefore all of my college choices are either down south near fishing grounds or in a fun city
