Bass shape part 2 bait fish size
This is a follow up to observations I did on the two lakes I spoke of and the shape of the bass. The short stocky lake had huge threadfin shad in it, most schools you saw were all a good 4,5,6 inches, big for that species. The long lean lake, if you did see a school the size was maybe 2,3 inches, about right for a lake that it is a main food source or a sought after one. Any lake that has a baitfish in it, which is most, and they are larger then normal, odds are its because the bass have ample other easier prey they feed on. Again good to know on a new lake especially if your having a hard time catching a fish to see its shape, but you have seen the baitfish.

I live close to the Mississippi in Iowa, and I've noticed that bass in the miss have larger heads and they are shorter but fatter than in lakes. It makes since, there is always ample forage in the Mississippi than any lake. Good fishin'

i do not believe any of this theory i will need at least some sources from this study, such as, your controlled environment that you studied, documentation of the fish you measured from your controlled group and you base group. and a whole lot more evidence that any of this holds water.

Thank you for that obsrevasion, same thing I thought as a biologist, it had to be a controlled study to be significant, thats what they teach. Fact is observation in real situations will lead to more conclusions then controled studies. Time and money control that, i.e easier to set up an experiment then perform it in the field, having a background in biology and real time for observation in real situations has been whats lead me to my conclusions. Based on studies I have read and applying them to real situations. Any renouned godfather of animal behavoir spent time in the field, as well as in a lab or a controlled enviroment to come to his conclusions.
