Last night at BPS.
They were having a special night and I had gone with the idea of buying a rig just for hollow body frogs and to pick up a couple of frogs. I found a combo they had for about $60. It felt really good in my hand. Right rod length & action. I was tinkering around with the reel which also felt good. It was a "Tournament Special Combo". I accidentally hit the thumb bar while testing the drag with my thumb and it evidentally jumped gear. I tried for several minutes to figure out if I could fix it. I decided if I could break it in 15 minutes in the store it probably could not survive me. There were no employees around so I set it behind the counter in hopes someone would look at it.

That's a shame. Of course a $60 combo might have been your first clue.

Well yeah. Budget is kind of tight at the moment. It felt really good until it broke. Individually the combo would have been $100. Still not an expensive combo.

It's just a good thing it happened before you bought it. But you did right by putting it behind the counter. Someone is sure to check it out.

If you have a Scheels or Dicks around I recommend checking out their combos. They usually have good deals on Abu Garcia combos as well as Quantum Combos. I still have my very first baitcasting combo a Quantum Bill Dance combo from Dicks that still works great. My brother uses it as he is just now getting into baitcasting. He initially bought a Shakespeare combo from WalMart which gave him fits.
