boat title??????
I just sold my 12' Meyers Alum. fishing boat and I can't seem to find a "title" for it anywhere??? I have registration for the boat and trailer, but shouldn't I have a title also??? Is there a size or boat type that would or would not require a title?? Any help would be appreciated, thanks
My organizational skills could use some help...... |

If you think there was a title the county you live in's title agency will have a record and for a fee will make you a new one. I just sold a car and found out I didnt have the title, here in ohio it was 13 bucks to get a new one. All i needed was a drivers license for I D an they did the rest..the buyer paid for the title so he could put it in his name, then he resold it that day and made 500 bucks...i didnt want to stick someone with it LOL

In Alabama it normally isn't that big of a deal. You need a bill of sale to register a boat, but I've done it before without a title and a 12' may not have had one or it may have been lost.

I just read the back of the registration and it states: .........
Upon sale of this vessel, snowmobile, or moped this registration (and title, if issued) must be signed and given to the new owner. Sounds like maybe some of the little tin can boats may not actually have a title???? |

don't know about your state but here in arkansas boats dont have titles. your trailer does cause its the part that is on the highway. boat has a registration only that also incudes the outboards information. sounds crazy, i know, sicne the boat is obviously the part that is worth the most money

The state of NC just changed theirs to anything over 14' AND PWCs must have a titile. No longer just the trailer.
I have a conundrum. I bought a boat awhile back, and lost the bill of sale. Repeated efforts to contact the original owner have proven fruitless. The couple of times I did get him to answer the phone he said he'd mail me another one, but of course that's never happend. Recently, he just ignores my phone calls and messages. What should I do so that I can register the boat? The guy lives well out of state and I'm not even sure I could find my way to his house again. I have the wildlife registration # and that's about it. |
