I have used both Chatterbaits and Boogee Baits and have caught numerous bass on both, but have lost a lot on the Boogee. I've used a trailer hook on the Chatterbait, but not the Boogee. I don't know why I've lost so many on the Boogee. I don't think it's just the lack of the trailer hook, because on the Chatterbait, I catch some on the trailer hook, but most on the main hook.
The Boogee is the first experience I've had with the Leverage flexible hook system and I can't help but wonder if my losses are a failing of the Leverage hook. At any rate, I feel the Boogee is better made with better components, but I can't detect much of a difference between them in their ability to attract strikes. I fish them high in the water column, much like spinnerbaits or in areas that I might use super-shallow crankbaits.

zooker,The best time I have found to throw a Chatter, is when the wind is blowing hard and pounding the shores. This is when I have had my best luck.I also like to add small twitches to the bait when retrieving and ripping the grass.

Nice fish, Plitz. Thanks for the tip. I haven't had any luck on these baits.

Welcome to the forum!
I've caught a few on a chatterbait. I pretty much fish it the same way I use a spinnerbait. Last week I got 2 on it pulling it past flooded bushes just like a spinnerbait.

ripping grass just like plitz said. or pitching them and hopping them on the bottom with a jig trailer.

I was watching a show the other day on the Chatter bait and the man said that he had his best results fishing it like a jig but instead of just bouncing it real it up a few feet then let it sink again. I have had a lil luck with those things but nothing major.

I caught hell out of bass at Alan Henry a couple weeks ago, fishing the buck brush in muddy water. I fished them like a crankbait; casting , letting it sink and reeling back slow thru the brush.

marty,i use trailer hooks on the boogee bait.you won't loose fish if you do this.and make sure they are sharp.i caught 2 3lbers tonight at a local pond tonight when i fished with my daughter for 1.5 hrs...the wind was blowing like plitz said.
