Default Anna

Got out yesterday and fished, and fished, and fished and came home with nothing. One bite all day. Found very little using electronics too. Water temps between 48 and 54 degrees. Stayed in the mid lake to down lake areas.
Heard that stripers are hitting bucktails in the upper ends of the lake. Saw a 6.8lb largemouth weighed in. Some good bass have been caught this week. All in the 4.5 to 7 lb range. Crankbaits and spinnerbaits doing the job.

I've heard of this lake Anna, it's on my hot spots maps (i live just North of Raleigh), is it close to Smith Mountain Lake? That's a beautiful place up there.

Took a trip a few years ago with my wife - begged her to take the boat - her answer was - Where would we put it, and she didn't want to worry abou t it back there....I was driving!!!

First thing she wanted to do when we go tthere - rent a %^$&^% boat!!!

Anna is 25 miles soutwest of Fredericksburg, VA or about 45 minutes north of Richmond. Smith Mt. is south of Lynchburg, VA and just north of Danville, VA. It's about 2.5 hours away from Anna. Anna is a power plant lake that is seperated by 3 dikes and is 9500 acres. Smith Mt. is on the Roanoke river chain of lakes (Buggs and Gaston) and is a much, much bigger lake. Smith Mt. has a good smallmouth population and huge stripers. Anna has a good striper population but unlike Smith Mt. it needs to be stocked. BASS Northern tour will be on Smith Mt. in 2007 again. Anna is better known for it's largemouths over 7lbs. Fish over 7lbs on Smith are not unheard of but not as common.

Let me know if you ever make it up to Anna. I'll do my best to help you out.

We have a tourney there every year in April. I can't wait, it's one of my favorites.

Got out today and threw some new baits I bought in Timonium, MD on Sat. Caught one on a CB BDS 4. My friend caught one on a jerkbait but had three others following baits up to the boat and missed another one on a hook set. A 5 fish 24.3 lb bag was weighed in today with a 7.5lb kicker. Not bad for Jan 15th.

The hot side is fun to fish in March. The first pool is between 60 and 70 degrees and the bass are spawning. Water temps reach the mid to high 90's in the summer time. Not fun.
