i found some info, 3 of the four top people at phoenix were formerly at stratos one being in the design department, the other 2 in management. this is also the company the has the new bee line boats, "for entry level fisherman". 21' beeline $39000 w/250 pro xs, fully rigged. they are really touting the performance side of this new boat zook got a pic of. looks good.

I am gonna put it like this. The people that they have building and deigning these boats with the materials and at the prices they are offereing there boats for..........well all I can say IS ITS ABOUT TIME someone stepped up and said NUFF!!!! NO reason for a 20 or 21ftr to cost more than most houses I dont care how you look at it.They are also doing something that I love........puttin the correct hp motors on the correct length boats. Just bewilders me why a person would have a GOOD BOAT and yes I am talkin stratos that is a 17ftr and only can legally run a 115. Thats wrong and no I aint talkin bout the speed thing I am talkin a saftey issue. Thats one of the main problems I have with package boats. There are scads of botes runing around with the smallest motor available because a Salesman forgot to talk saftey to a first time boat buyer.

That's about the only thing I am not 100% satisfied with on my Stratos. The HP rating is only 150 whereas most other companies 18'6" boats take a 175 and I have heard it is political BS in Genmar. If you want the bigger motor you have to pay the >25% more for the same size Ranger.
The other situation is a crappy dealer just trying to get boats out the door cheap and putting lower powered motors than the boat is even rated for. That just plain stinks for a boat buyer who doesn't know what they need and seems more common at the big box dealers. A guy I know worked with Phoenix for a while and said the boats are really great with a lot of smart and well thought out features. When I am in the market again they will be on my list to check out. |
