Almost Cried Yesterday!
So I'm fishing with a buddy of mine yesterday, and we're working our way down the shoreline casting to the docks with jerkbaits. I had recently switched colors and was on a 9 fish in a row roll when I hooked a smallie of about a pound and a half. I lifted him into the boat and saw that he was hooked by the front hook of my bait, and the rear hook was around my line.as I reached to grab him he shook, flipped, and dropped into the drink with my brand new Megabass Vision 110 still in his mouth.
i don't know if the hook cut my line or what, but I really thought I was gonna cry like a little girl. It wasn't even a big fish!!! My buddy just looked at me and said " i ain't even gonna bust your chops about it cause that sucks". I knew when I bought them it would happen sooner or later, but it still hurt!!!

Dude, I think I might have cried. Recently I've purchased quite a few of those $20+ Lures and just the thought of losing one puts chills down my spine.

Using a net to land a feisty bass has saved more than one lure of mine.

Its like the that for sure. I have lost 1 LC. You just have to look at it like you bought it to catch fish and with that comes a price from time to time.

That sucks man, I feel your pain. I've seriously considered buying some of those Smart Link split rings to go on my expensive baits. I have a handful of Lucky Crafts that they don't even sell in the states, I would hate to lose them. Tackle Tour gave the Smart Links a good review and the concept makes sense, might be something to think about.
One other thing, if you caught 9 fish in a row without a retie, that's probably your problem.

That sucks for sure. But on the bright side, at least the bill didn't break on it like happens to a lot of Megabass Visions.

A buddy of mine (Jrob78) bought one for me during our Christmas exchange, I have been too afraid to even use it yet. They are a bait that looks like they could be put in a showcase. Sorry for your loss.

That sucks, it's tough to lose nice baits. I have lost a couple of LC's but never even bought a 110.

Loosing any lure stinks cause you probably wouldn't be throwing it unless it was catching fish. The spendier the lure the larger the pain. I've lost $3 dollar lures in old no longer used or old paint schemes that can't replace. When I realize it may of been due to me not retieing or worse a bad knot tied in a hurry. 'I DO CRY"
Sorry to hear but how did the next bait you used work out?

Man, I could feel your pain from over here in the Pacific Northwest. Makes me wonder if we should use a sharpy with a contact number in case someone finds our lost lures. Sure would love to be the next angler to catch that smallie. If you're wondering, yes, I would have given it back.

sucks
I've lost baits and fish due to laziness of not retie'n. And that really...well makes me reeeally mad. Whats worse is when I spend hours painting a bait and have it turn out perfect and then lose that, when it's you're own it's even worse.

At least you didnt have a choice, wait till you get a three ft cottonmouth on,you let him have the dang bait, only a crazy person would boat one and try to get their high dollar bait back,so you cut the line sniff sniff.
And yes think the hook cut the line.Bright side is you do know what color to buy again that works. |
