Pond Fishing
I went fishing my brothers inlaws pond today , and the bass apparently have never seen a popper before. I used a lucky craft popper and the bass just tore it up , untill the sun got high , then the bite shut down.

They'll nail em even harder just before dark in the evenings. The hula popper is my favorite. Pond bass love em early in the morning and in the evening. Nothing matches seeing your popper disappear with a splash.

yep bamma I love it. And they only seem to nail it after you've gotten into the rut of popping it, you've been doing it a little while and your mind sort of drifts thinking about something else. Next thing you know, wham! You get him in the boat and release him, then it hit's you and you think to yourself, "Lord I hope my britches are still clean." Cause you really were not expecting it when it hit. Can't get that kind of rush any other way without getting arrested.

Yup, they like poppers! When ever I go out early fishing, that's one of the things I'll always use! They also like to water frogs like ribbits, and rage toads and shads!

I use a skitter pop'r all the time, but when the sun gets up you have to find some shad spots or alittle current to fish them.
Something about the sun shuts the top water action off. Think the fish go deeper and get a little sidish. |
