Weekly Lake Fork Fishing From Guide Jim Reaneau
Well, this time of year the fishing report sounds just like last week. This is because the fish will be in their summer patterns till mid to late September. The mornings are still producing some top water bites on Pop’r, Buzz bait, weightless Wave tiki sticks, and weightless, Lake Fork Tackle ZigZags. Fish these baits slow around the grass till the sun gets up and switch to either Texas or Carolina riggs. Work the edges of the grass and then get out on the deep water humps and main lake points. The water is still holding in the mid 80’s but in great shape. Pitching a jig around the grass is a good big bite bait. Pitch any timber, stumps, and openings in the grass. The deep fish are best targeted with your electronics and then back off and cast to them. When you find the fish suspended swim baits like Spinner baits, jigs, Storm Wild eyes, and big crank baits. Either count down the slow sinking baits, or cast past the fish with the big crank baits and pull them down.
