Default 3 rods & 6 baits....

What 3 combos that you own would you carry on a quick impromptu fishing trip and what 6 baits would be your go to set ups? Small lake or pond with water less than 30 feet deep and early spring or late winter.

For me Johnny Morris combo with 6'-6 Med Hvy rod, Quantum KVD reel with Carbonlite rod in 6'-6 Med action, and Team Diawa reel with All-Star 6'-6 Med Hvy action. Baits: Plastic lizard, Hollow Frog, Pop R type bait, Square bill crankbait, Rattle Trap, & spinnerbait.

Late fall/early spring mean right after ice out and just before ice up. But I use things differently for both.

Early spring
6'6" MH/MOD - jerk bait/lipless crank
7 MH/FAST - Jig
6'6" MH/FAST - Spinner bait/chatter bait

Late Fall
7' MH/MOD - Mid depth cranks/shallow square bills
6'6" MH/FAST - Large spinner bait
7'0" MH/FAST - Jig

Yup, these three combos are all you "need" to cover all the basic bass fishing techniques.

M/F spinning- Single hook baits <1/2oz
MH/F casting - Baits 1/2>
M or MH / Mod - treble hook lures
