Merc Racing Division <-- Horrid
Is this Merc from the "Racing" division or just the plain Opti Pro Xs??? I here the "RACING" division has horrible service and does not stand behind there product!!!! Apparently the "RACING" division has its own seperate customer service and management. If you have issues with the "RACING" division there is nothing that the Mercury customer service can do to help.

Merc. Race
I bought a 06 Merc. 250 XS demo Aug/06. Warranty started Oct/05 (demo). Apr/07 1st. powerhead, #6 piston ignition prob. Warranty no cost. Apr/08 2nd powerhead, #6 piston rist pin comes loose puts hole in block. 1 year old powerhead, but now 6 months out warranty. Merc Race says out the goodness of their hearts would replace powerhead. #3 in 2&1/2 years. Will not cover labor, parts or other parts broke by powerhead. When i filled a complaint. I was told if i was not satisfied with how they were handling the problem they would take powerhead back and i could pay them 7,000 for another one. Then Merc Race had my dealer call me with the same threat. Now due to history a 18,000 motor is worth 4,000. THINK YOU WANT A MERC RACE. GOOD LUCK.
