Anyone here reload thier own ammo?
Shooting is worse than fishing. Just got back from getting some ammo and the prices are getting nutz. 525 rounds of .22LR - $50.00, 100 of 9mm - $46.00 and the killer, 50 rds of .45LC (they were out of the cheap cowboy) - $48.00. It's no wonder the ammo prices are not posted, you have to ask. I'm thinking of getting a reloader, I just paid half the price of a start up kit (no dies or shell holders), I think for about $500.00 I could set up and start doing my own.

Damn, that's crazy. Prices have gone back down to normal here. Walmart has 9mm for around $12-$14 per 50 for fmj's.
I've always heard reloading is really only a cheaper option if you shoot a lot, like at least weekly. I've also heard that reloading supplies are just as expensive and hard to find as factory ammo now. At the prices you're facing though, I would be looking into it too. Have you tried looking online for ammo?

Have a friend that does his he reloads 5.56/223 and 9mm seems to enjoy it,he has a lyman press, but ive done 38 with a mere hand one.He got lucky got it from a pawn shop under 250 otd.
Some primers hard to find /save your own brass, powder is easy but not always exactly what one wants. Then again to me pistol powder is pistol powder any brand so long as it fits wallet will do.Bullseye seems to be the most common in my own stock. Pyrodex can be used for those old top break 38 s and w made for blackpowder,so other uses than the old colt navy copy. For those not desiring to reload in say 45 Tula steel cased is cheap. And no havnt bought any powder or primers in years held an ffl lic back in the 70s,still have a few cans apparently good for a very long time. Last edited by lilmule; 03-27-14 at 08:07 AM. |

You need to start bow shooting. The arrows are reusable. I don't shoot anymore but did take a look at Wal Mart recently. They had a ton of shot gun ammo and not much else. Just wondering how long would it take to reload a hundred rounds?

I used to view that site regularly.
It became almost a second job, so I quit
