Rattles
I fish a lot of c-rig from slightly stained water to murky water. I've found that worm rattles have made a huge difference in my success. I've been wanting to try out those rattling bullet weights like Gambler puts out and wanted to see if anyone's used them and had any luck with them. Is one is better than the other, or even the combination of the two.

The florida rig I've tried, and do not like, the line hole is filled with something, and it requires a thin piece of wire to pull the line through, which is jsut aggravating, especially if it's windy, and you really need to be on the trolling motor! Not sure if that's what you're meaning, you didn't give a name!
I prefer the rattles in the bait, personally, to me, a rattle a few feet from the bait isn't helping much, but on a t-rig it's a good idea, just executed poorly. |

I always use the glass rattles with 3 bb's in them, and insert in most plastics or craws, but never in clear water

I've always used them to imitate the craw clicking sound, in murky or stained water. But was always taught not to use them in spooky clear water. I guess its to help find the bait in murky water, but in clear water its to un natural.. Don't know if its correct or not, just always have read that in bassmasters and on tv shows.

You're probably correct, in the late 80's or early 90's the rattles were all the craze and I used them all the time, I wish I had some of that fishing glue back then, I would insert them in plastics but they would pop out after a hour or two..then for some reason I just would forget to buy them to restock and got out of the habit of using them..
With the new year of fishing (for up here in ohio) the water is clear, and I'll try them, and report back to ya! I gota baitmonkey that is going to be fed this weekend, going to stock up on some stuff at bps in cincy. |
