Plastics repair
I had the day off from work today, so this afternoon I dug out my soldering iron and several bags of senkos that I hadn't yet repaired from the end of last season. I typically repair them about every 6 weeks or so during the season, but I just hadn't yet gotten around to fixing the ones from the last part of my 2012 fishing year. Anyway, after about 2.5 hours of working at it, I had one bag of 7" senkos, seven bags of 5" senkos, and a handful of other assorted plastics all repaired and ready for action once the 2013 bass season finally opens here. I like having another $60+ worth of senkos in my arsenal at no cost to me except for my time!

I do similar, using a wood burning tool. Saves some money, but bait monkey hates it.

Not only do you save money you have the satisfaction of fixing lures yourself.

I like to mix and match different colors.
Take like a pumpkin and add a watermelon/red flake to back. I like having a solid color front and flakes or chart. mixes rear. Smoke red flake makes a good tail too. That and using a 'sharpie' to make cosmetic alterations are probably the only thing the mechanical side of our passion I can actually do.
