So, what did Santa bring you for Christmas?
Merry Christmas! I'm not anticipating any fishing gear for Christmas this year. I did buy myself a new Werner kayak paddle though. Can't wait for it to get here.
Did you get any fishing stuff for Christmas?

So far I have received a 7'6" MH Duckett cranking rod and a 7'3 MH 13 Fishing rod along with a ton of crankbaits and KVD Truple Grips. I also got 3 spools of Seaguar fluorocarbon line.
I am really impressed with the craftsmanship of the 13 Fishing rod, it is by far the cleanest built over the counter rod I have ever seen.

No fishing stuff - I have a boat full, boxes stashed in the basement and garage loft. I don't think I need much in the way of tackle or baits until sometime in 2019. My wife and I have agreed to stop buying each other stuff we really don't need at Christmas, birthdays, etc. so we get something for the house - this year a new refrigerator.

Nada fishing stuff this Christmas. Didn't even get myself anything this year. The only thing I wanted was a new rod for spinnerbaits. I guess I'll watch ebay or a forum sale place for one.

I got 50$ in BPS gift certificates, a Red Head heavy cotton long sleeve shirt, new rubber knee high boots which will work great here in the forums, a couple DVD's, coffee grinder, Polo calogne, and a few other things. I did buy myself a new S&W Shield 9mm, and my son got me two boxes of Speer Gold Dot 124 grain short barrel bullets.

I got the big Hydro-flow tackle bag and a new style Cabo PT 40. The next several days off I am going to cull out the four tackle boxes into one single bag. And sell off the what is never used/ antique and useless stuff. Gonna need a pickup truck to haul it all off to the fishing flea markets.

Well I did sort of get a tackle bag from my boy this year.
He shows up with his lady and the grandkids. Makes an, out of the ordinary, grand entrance. ya right out of the ordinary Making big deal about being the Christmas Season and what a joyish time of year it is. Now he knows I'm a soft touch when it comes to beauty (his lady friend). He knows I'm soft/weak when it comes to kids. (the grandkids) He knows I enjoy humor and 'smiles'. (his actions) So my guards up! "He wants something. And my guess was it wasn't going to be cheap"! So he tells his lady to grab something out of his SUV. "Surprise", the kids yell. Well the bag is 14" by 8" and 9" deep. It's insulated. Has built in small speakers that your phone or Ipod can plug into. Well made actually. He hands me the bag with a big smile and turns and starts walking to his SUV, grinning all the way. I turn and examine the bag and then I see it! He works for Granger, you shop guys probably are familar with the name, in sales. His division was bought out by Ahrens, snowblowers and stuff, hence they had a bunch of promotional stuff with the 'Old Name' on and they let the employees have it. The grandkids burst out laughing and run up and give me a big hug. Where oh where does he get this crazy joking attitude from, I'll never know.

My employer gave everyone eight days off with pay for the Holidays. My last day of work before the Christmas Holiday was December 20th. My first day back will be January 2nd of the new year.

My brother Matt gave me a Leatherman "Wave" multi-tool. It is pretty awesome.
My girlfriend gave me a recliner...guess she's noticing how old I am and how much rest I need. Oh, and my best friend's family gave me the flu.

The most important thing was a new smartphone, but my favorite thing was the big box of crankbaits that Santa brought me! Oh and a new cranking rod, too!

My annual lump of coal and a stick........
Show/Expo/Flea Market season starts this weekend. I typically sell at multiple shows (5-6) every season but this year I'm missing a couple of them, missed getting a table at a new one, and one was cancelled . Will only make 2 this year which is a little depressing but I'm working other jobs this year and need to make guaranteed $$ vs potential $$. That being said if anyone has a need for a specific bait I'm always willing to take a look around and see what I can find. You never know what may show up at one of these events.... |
