Abu Garcia Pro Max
OK guys I was on Tackle Warehouse just screwing around looking at some reels and I found this:Abu Garcia Pro Max. It sounds like a good reel and the reviews are pretty good but I'm kinda apprehensive about buying
another Abu Garcia because of the Black Max which I dont like. The link is: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Abu_G...page-AGPM.html It looks like this: All info will be appreciated!

Don't put Garcia off your list, just about any 50$ casting reel you get is not gonna be very good, shimano, BPS.. almost anyone!
But some poeple really like them, I've got a friend that has one and loves it! but for ten bucks more, I'd get this

Take a look at the Daiwa Exceler, great reel for the money.

bamabassman has multiple silver and promax reels, and I know he loves them all.
Like bassboss said, you can get the Orra SX for $10 more with the $10 rebate. I think that may be a good route to go. Or like Jrob said, The Daiwa Exceler is another good possibility. Or if you wanted to save up a bit more, you can get the Shimano Citica for $120, but then I'd probably just go with a Revo S. BB

I have two pro maxes and they are good reels and I have 0 complaints but if it was me I would save a few more buck and get orra like BB said.

Adding on the Orra SX:
The only reason I could think of getting a pro max over an orra SX is if you like the magnetic cast control rather than centrifugal. pick your poison!

I was thinking of getting an Orra because of the pitching brakes. I have some trouble pitching and think that new brake might just be the ticket

I do have 2 promax's and 1 silvermax. Also have 2 older garcias. 1 pinnacle, and a couple of spinning reels which 1 is a garcia. And YES i love my garcia's. Haven't had a single problem with my promax's. Had 2 silver's but one wasn't too great and traded it for the 2nd promax. Just my opion, one of the best reels on the market. And i got all 3 garcia's (silver and pro) were purchased at wally world.

I'm not super picky with reels, just want them to work pretty much lol but i have a silver max and it's great for the price in my opinion. Depends on how picky you are, but from what i've heard the pro max is a really good reel.

Was just on Greentop's website and they're selling the Revo S for 100 bucks! That's a great price for a great reel

IMO, the BPS reels just slightly more are the best route. I bought my last
Abu product about 7 years ago when the EON was the reel to have. Both mine broke within two months, sent them back and they replaced them. They both lasted a little longer because of a new lock was added on the side, but still not more than a season. Two products I don't ever buy...anytihng that says Abu or Quantum. |
