Fish it all untill you find a pattern of which laydowns they are on. Somtimes it will be ones with shade/no shade on it. Sometimes it will be the ones with wind blowing on it/protected from the wind. Sometimes it will be the ones next to a shallow spawning flat, sometimes it will be the ones that relate to deeper water. It truly could be ANY of them...but hit them all, look back at the ones you catch fish off of, and try to notice something similair about them.
As far as baits, wood is something you can fish with just about any bait. Hit it with a faster moving bait first like a crankbait, spinner bait, frog or such. Then move in closer on it and pick it apart with a craw, jig, worm, etc. Hope this helps. good luck, -spro

I agree, maybe try a squarebill crank or like a Bagleys Balsa B. Otherwise what I would probably do is use a T-rigged Zoom Speed Craw with just a 1/4 or 3/8 oz. weight.

This time of year I'd be working a jig n pig pitched right down into that wood. Also I'd be bouncing a crankbait off laydowns. I'd also be throwing a double colorado spinnerbait, white with gold blades. Away from the wood I'd be trying a hard body jerk bait like a Pointer 100SP.

Provided you're talking about Resthaven 10, try to fish the deeper wood on the north side of the pond. I ususally fish that side this time of year, and the fish will suspend right beside the wood, so a slow falling weightless senko will usually hit it this time of year. Spinnerbaits slow rolled will usually produce as well. Flippin' really don't work that well over at Pond 10 becasue we are bank fishing, and the wood is so far off the bank. I plan on hitting that pond on Saturday... I'm going to see if tom can go, so maybe we'll meet you there?

Spinnerbait will work well around all the wood.

basically... toss whatever you got and see what they bite on
I myself tend to have better luck with worms/senkos (texas rigged) around stumps |
