Crappie die off
Hi guys. Went fishing this weekend on a local pond I've been fishing for years. It's a very large pond with bass, sunfish, bluegill, crappie, bullhead, and pike. Anyways saw thousands of dead crappie all along the shore and floating but no other dead fish. Saw a bunch of healthy bluegill and sunfish and caught a few nice bass. Thought this was vary strange. Why would only one species of fish all the sudden die off in such huge numbers?

That happened here in Pa last spring. If I remember corectly it has to do with oxygen depletion due to abrupt air temperature change.

Sometimes fertilizer spread along banks will do that too.
