I'm surprised it's a single axle trailer? Was that your choice, or was that part of the deal? Again nice ride, and don't mind zooker, I know you would be culling, by the time he got to the same spot in his boat rotfl.

Nice boat! Let us know what speed it tops out at on the GPS. I am guessing 63 mph. That's plenty fast for me. That is as fast as I have had my boat and that is quick enough. Take care and safe boating!!!!!

The only way to get good luck out of that boat is to sacrafice a virgin on the front deck, as your doing 55mph across an open lake.
I have had good luck with mine ever since.

I used to fish out of a 86 ranger with a 150 on it, and it would go 59, so a 200 could scream IMO

I havent gps'd it but my 14'Alum. jon completly empty was running 37+/-5 mph I did it between two know points thats how I figured the speed. I got a 30HP Mariner on the back of it boat only weighs like 100 pounds or so then me at 200 add the at another 90. I dont wanna go that fast anymore the flat bottom was sliding back and forth the whole way one little slip and I woulda rolled that thing over

my buddy and i took his hand held gps out in her the other day. on a full tank of gas and choppy water she clocked in at 67 mph. later in the day we had about a half tank of gas and the water turned to glass, we got her at 71 mph. i wish i would have thought to take pics of the gps before he took her home. next time we go i will be sure to do this so i can post them. 71 mph is plent fast for me to tourny fish out of. and zooker you are right, i had a 50 on my last boat and 35 was all i could get out of her so 40 + is great out of your boat. when we bought this boat we were looking at either a skeeter zx, stratos 294, or something in the bass cat line. but i got a pretty good deal on this boat and best of all "it's a ranger". oh the single axel trailer was just part of the deal, i wondered about it too but she pulls really well and it's 2 less tires i have to replace when the time comes.

I don't know much about speed, so i'm ya'll who do. I have a '89 skeeter, 17', with a 140. Myself, a passenger, half a tank of gas, and all my storage full...we got it to 55 (gps) on choppy water at about 5700 rpm (it'll do more rpm wise). Is that good, bad, average, what?
While I'm on the subject, the motor is a 140 Nissan p.l.u.s., what do ya'll feel should be the max rpm? I know you need more info, but on average? |

nissan's are a rare moter i know of NONE running a nissan on a faster boat..55 does kinda sound slow for a 140 on a 17 foot skeeter..i would have guessed 60 or so..
but here is one question that may help. what time of year was it? i did mine with 36 degree air temp. low humdity.. my moter is 4" below pad. now if it gets humid-summer- i lose my hole shot with the same prop and have to switch to lower pitched-read that slower-prop. now let me state cold temps your moter makes horse power gains. in humid hot weather your moter actually loses power.. example with my old power head. 38 degree air temps, low humidity, with a powertech worked ss prop. spinning at 5800 rpm. my best was 38.7gps. 91 degrees with humdity nearing 90% same prop 5800 rpm top speed 34.4 gps.. there is THAT much differance.. i use a 10.5" x14p powertech cupped and vented 3 blade in the winter. in summer i use a customized edge-cabelas-10 3/8"x13p 3 blade prop that is blue printed and slighty tweaked-needs venting- yes i am aware that the edge prop is the cheaper one -$225- add about $200 more to the custom work. the powertech cost -$439- prior to venting- $100- does it make that much differance? yes!! zooker

Yeah single axles are easier to pull and one less tire to replace. Although not so fun when one of your tires fall off. It happened to me the other day and it would have been nice to have a extra tire instead of draggin the frame on the highway. As well as being stuck on the side of the road. But luckily the boat nor motor was damaged.
