Weedy Lake
I frequently fish very heavily weeded lakes. The bass in these lakes seen many forms of weedless plastics. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on diffrent baits i could use.

Welcome to the forum!
First thing I reach for in that kind of lake is a soft stickbait like a Senko, Tiki Stick or Yum Dinger. Rig it weedless and weightless and work it with soft twitches of the rod tip. Just watch your line because you don't often feel a hit with these baits-your line will tighten up or it just gets "heavy".

get ya some zoom horny toads and a #4 offset gammy hooks, swim it in open water or stop and go on top of the weeds, or let it set on the weeds and move it a few inches.

i usually use these...they are pre-rigged and you dont need to change the frog..they are awesome in thick weeds. |

If the weeds have not reached the surface then try to burn a rat-l-trap or Manns Baby 1- just over the top of the weeds. If they are not taking that on an active bite then switch to a slower presentation like soft plastics. This works to cover a lot of water and see how active they are.

Because the bass in these lakes have seen lots of plastic worms, do you think a plastic lizard would be a good alternative?

Definitely. Lizards are a killer bass bait. RIg 'em just like a worm.

There is alot of floating algae in the north part of the lake. In the middle there is an extensive milfoil bed about 3ft or so under the surface

Try using a buzzbait out in the deeper water working it over the milfoil early in the morning and hang on tight. Also a white 3/8th oz tandon spinner worked just fast enough to tickle the tops of the milfoil should grab a lot of attention. I frequently fish lakes like that here in NW Indiana and both those techniques work well. I always add a 3 - 4 inch yellow or chartruese twister grub as a trailer to my white tandom spinners. It seems to make a big difference.

A Horney Toad should be the ticket. The hooks Zoom makes for them help. Screw the head of the toad on it and that will help keep it from slipping down the hook on a long hard cast. You may need to open the hook up some though. Out of the package the point of the hook faces more towards the frog. I open them up a little so the point sits flat on the frogs back. Will help with hooking up.
If you have some wind a spinnerbait on top of that millfoil should be good too. Eric |

A well tuned spinnerbait is generally weedless. Try one.
