How do you best hook a rubber worm
Just found this place!!
I hook mine staright thru the nose then slide the hook up into the body and let a small bit of it poke out the bottom. I usually just use worms with no sinkers just the worm. Today though I was using a few new lures I bought this weekend and scraping the beds on the shoreline, they were poping out of the leaves and muck and busting this lil spinner bait i was using. Two nice hits, and another that got pulled in but released. I'm only after wall hangers anymore No boat yet but im working on getting a 12 14' john boat in a few months here to troll the coves with. I'm a bank and shoreline fisherman (not by choice though) and I enjoy every minute of it little fish big fish, if it jumps up and MY lure is in its mouth, I'm having a good time |

Thanks I'll try this TX rig. Looks like it would be good for weeds too

If done correctly this rig should be almost completely weedless

Texas rig like deadman said. Works great. The only problem I've found is that the bass are tearing up my worms. Either they yank the hook right through the plastic and out down where the point stuck out a little or the worms start to rip. Anyone out there have any ideas to keep the hook in place better. I've been using hooks that look the same as above, but red in color.

when my plastics rip I re-melt the plastic with a lighter. Crude but effective

I guess they are hungry or its Berkley's way of keeping us to buy more worms. I like the re-melt idea Deadman. I'll try it this weekend. Still need to know how to keep that hook in place.

I believe that getting 2-3 fish off of one plastic is a good ratio. That means you are catching fish. And as long as I am catching fish, I am happy. I am even happy with 1 fish to 1 plastic. Its worth the sacrifice.

Mann's makes a hard nose series of plastics that will last all day.

I am with you there......I would gladly trade a worm for a fish. It would sure beat getting skunked.

If I am catching 2 fish off a worm I am happy, I have been using Lake Fork ring fries and been catching 3 to 4 off one worm, these worms are a ton stronger than Zoom. Plus you can always flip them over and use the other side if they get to chewed up

The only time I worry about tearing up plastics is when the suply is running low. As Flyrod can attest, when we come off the lake the bottom of the boat is littered with torn plastics. That is why I always buy 2 bags of whatever I'm using, and the ones I have a lot of confidence in I usually have at least 3 bags in the boat. Overkill, I know, but I'll guarantee if I only have one bag the fish will be tearing that particular bait up.
