38lb Flathead caught noodling
Yesterday was opening day for noodling/hogging season here in South Arkansas. Me and a few buddies met up at lake Chicot. We caught this one and 1 more that weighed 32lbs. We had another fish in the hole with this one that was bigger, but the hole was too large to reach to the back of, and we couldn't ever get a hold of the fish. Who needs an pole or trotline for big cats...? NOT US!

As Bootsie Collins would say, "Funk That!" I'm not going in their world. You got my respect as a spectator for the fat cat. Nice haul!

That's a hell of fish to catch with your bare hands! I've seen it done on numerous different tv shows but I don't think I have the stones to do it.

Nice fish, Doc. You've got me beat by 3 pounds...my biggest noodling (hand grabbing here) was about 35. Talk about a rush...

HAHAHAHA A perfect postcard if I say so myself. haha
I last did the noodling thing when I was in my teens. After reaching into an undercut and grabbing onto a nasty snapping turtle I decided never again!!!

Nice fish, done this some when I was younger, but was never comfortable enough with it to truly enjoy it.

Took my son back this weekend, we caught 10 or so smaller fish (wich were released) and he managed to catch this pretty nice flathead (30lbs). Funny thing is he had to catch it twice. Once we got her out of the hole, a older couple that had been watching from the bank came over and wanted some pictures. After taking some pictures on the bank my son went to transport the fish to the boat, and dropped it back in the lake, without hesitation he belly flopped on the big cat and wrestled her for a 2nd time. We all had a good laugh. Doesn't matter what kind of fishing were doing I always have a smile and a good time while fishing with my oldest son. He is 14 now, and at the age where he is "coming into his own" and doesn't have to be coddled as much. Don't get me wrong I really enjoy fishing with my smaller children, but it's nice that he is at the age where he is pretty much self reliant (in the boat anyway.)
