Methiolate
Since I don't get on the water much, I usually don't give much advice. However, today, I have a recommendation. Buy Methiolate Senkos!!!
Over the weekend, the fish were not hitting much. The water was very warm and busy with weekenders. Even after the sun went down, the fish seemed to be lethargic. My friend dug through his tackle bag and pulled out some Methiolate Senkos. I made fun of him and his "Fisher Price" colored worms. However, I soon was apologizing after my friend landed 5 bass in about 5 minutes. I then tied on a Senko (in a different color) and there were no takers. Finally, I used the "Fisher Price" worm and not surprisingly, immediately caught some bass. The bottom line is that there might be something to this color. I don't know why but it worked for us. Anyone else use this color and have similar results? |

Can you post a pic of the color? And does any other brand make this color, b/c I hate having to pay the steep price for a bag of senkos.

Its an awesome color for floating worms as well. I often call it pink cause methiolate sounds like a disease, not a color (and I think its a little oranger than pink, but I could be a bit colorblind)...anyways I refer to the pink floating worm as one of my "panic" baits. Its never the first thing I have tied on, but if I have to I feel pretty confident fishing it around banks most of the time and in most conditions when the temp is above 65.

The picture doesn't do the color justice. Truly the bait is more orange than pink. I compare the Methiolate color to "Fisher Price" orange.

I am now looking to buy a couple bags (my friend will never let me live this down, especially since I made fun of him for using the Methiolate color). Interestingly, I do not think that Yammamoto makes this color in the standard 5" version. Instead, I can only find it in "Senko Lite". I wonder why they don't offer the same colors in all makes and models.

Not sure Wishing, but if Senko doesn't make one in a 5" version, I'm pretty sure you will be able to find someone who makes them...
I even think I may have seen tiki sticks in that color or close to it before.

Of course, once I purhase a couple of bags, the fish will no longer be interested in this presentation. This often happens to me. |

Rider,
Funny that you mention the Chatterbait. On my way to the lake, I stopped at Dick's and purchased 3 Chatterbaits. I didn't catch a thing on any of them. After my friend began slaughtering em' on the Methiolate worms, I was thinking that I should have spent my money on a few bags of those. If I could only turn back time . . . |

Merthiolate and Methiolate are the two spellings used to describe this color. When searching for baits of this color try both. The true spelling for the chemical is Merthiolate.
