Flick Shake
The Senko thread and the wacky rig discussion triggered this thought. I don't know if many of you have tried this bait or not, but for fishing a wacky rig bait this really blows them all away.
It is a finesse worm, but it has a slight kink in it in the tail that for whatever reason catches a ton of fish. It is fished on a weighted jighead and just flat catches fish. When the conditions are tough and the bite is slow this is my go-to bait. I have yet to get skunked throwing this bait. If you haven't tried it do yourself a favor and try it. I get them at Cabela's-they are a little hard to find for some reason. Maybe that is not a bad thing-not everyone uses them It is the only bait my father-in-law likes to throw. We had a day last spring where we put 30-35 fish in the boat and lost 10-15 more. The biggest was around 5-my FIL caught it-and he lost one at the boat that would have gone at least 8. This is one fish-catching bait.

I picked up 2-3 packs of the worms and some of the jig heads during my 2010-2011 off-season, but I'm embarassed to say I *still* haven't tried them yet. They are now at the top of my list for things to try in 2013 (only 206 days until 2013 bass opener here )!

I use the 5.8 " flick shake, camo is probably my favorite because smallmouths prefer that color, watermelon candy would be my second choice.I use the Zappu wacky 1/8 oz. jighead and the Jackall 1/8 oz. jack roll wackyheads.

Ivan, i use the Zappu heads as well. Great jighead to use with these baits.
Sorry to you guys I set the bait monkey loose on....not! Seriously-you will not regret getting them. I use the 5.6 in watermelon pepper, pumpkin pepper, and pumpkin candy on an 1/8 oz. jighead.

So, I started to research this bait, and came across the octopus rig. Anyone try this technique? Just so everyone understands, use a jackals weedless wacky jig, wacky rig three flick shake worms, then turn the first one 90° and thread it back on the hook over the other two. Anyone try it...and catch fish?

Wacky. Just cast it out and let it sink. No fish? Reel in and repeat. I have not had a hit that did not come on the fall. It is an awesome bait for a beginning fisherman because it flat catches fish.

Caught 5 like this yesterday afternoon. Improvised Flick Shake type deal>1/2 oz jig head>7" Big Bite> **note the Lowrance reading.....33'** kind of a strange heavy wet sock kind of bite but fun nonetheless

Joe when I first started throwing them I began by tossing them into the trees along the shore, when that didn't produce I tried using them as a topwater but they refused to float, then tried burning them through laydowns but were prone to hanging up. Finally I tried letting them sink and thats when the magic happened!

I haven't tried this yet but we just moved to an area where there is some top notch smallmouth fishing along with some great largie fishing. Previously due to how shallow and weedy the largie lakes I fished were, this technique would not have been something I would have used much, preferring weightless wacky and texas rigging. But this seems like it could be a good technique for the deeper lakes here on the rocky drop-offs to catch suspended smallies. Thoughts?

How well will this work in weed choked lakes? My lakes have a ton of milfoil most years and worms tend to just lay on top of the weeds unless you find a pocket here and there.

I love milfoil, but a couple years ago I went to lowes and bought 5 or 6 mortar boards? think they're called......looks like white plywood but made from thin concrete?. Sank them randomly on milfoil growing out on top of a hump, marked with an subtle bamboo stalk and sorta created a few permanent personal pockets.
