Christmas eats
Every year for Christmas dinner it's ham. Probably will be this year to at the girlfriends daughters house. I think i am going to put a standing rib roast in the oven to have for a later dinner this year. Do you follow tradition every year or change it up once in a while? I think after 60 years a change might do me good.

In 2011 I started the tradition of a whole beef tenderloin cooked for our Christmas dinner. It is hideously expensive but I have scrimped and saved in order to have this on the table for my family again this year. I can almost taste it already.

Actually we have homemade Lasagna on Christmas Eve followed by Prime Rib on Christmas.
Who needs presents with eats like that......at least that's what I tell the KIDS.

When is dinner? I don't want to miss out!!! Sounds great. We tend to have ham every year but it varies depending on if my wife works or not. She works at the hospital and leaves in the middle of the day every other year. We are having Christmas with her side of the family this Sunday, and it's going to be ham and a pork roast.

It varies with us. Used to, we'd always have shrimp gumbo on Christmas because an aunt that lived in Pensacola would bring several pounds of fresh caught Gulf shrimp with her. That tradition went away years ago after my grandmother and Aunt Jeanette died. Nowadays, there's no set traditional menu, we could have anything.

Bob....you hit the nail on the head with this one!!!!
It's always been my job to bring desserts to Thanksgiving and Xmas. This past thanksgiving, I took the turkey. Injected...rubbed....(sounds like a great saturday night, right?), smoiked n fried...... Thought I could take the pressure off the older folk, and start supplyin the main course from here on out. Decided prime rib would go over great at xmas! Talked to my mom, and found out that my aunt is bringin pork loin (not that there's anything wrong with that.....). So I'm takin The Cake. Smokin Prime Rib for my house only, tomorrow lol
