Fishing near Richmond, VA
Does anyone have any good recommendations for fishing near Richmond, VA. I am willing to travel up to 2 hrs if the fishing is worth it.
Suggestions? |

Welcome CB. Lake Anna is near Richmond. Briery Creek and Sandy River (limited to 10 hp lakes) aren't too far away. You also have the James River. All of these are good fishing places.

I'd fish the Chick before heading up to Anna at this time of year. A lot of weekend boat traffic and the fish typically pull out to deeper cover this time of year. Makes it tough fishing if you don't know the lake.
Chick lake is smaller and less traffic....very few lake fleas. Find the channel edges and grass edges on the flats and you'll find fish. Topwater early and on overcast days can be great. If you want to fish tidal water then go to Riverside Camp #2...Mike and Walt's place is 10 minutes away from the lake. Hit the pad field across the river from the ramp and work outgoing tide. Topwater on the river can be excellent too. Two hours from Richmond and you can fish Buggs, Gaston, Anna Lakes and Potomac, Upper James, Rapp. rivers. Too much to list. But my choice would be the Potomac river. |
