Default Mariner problems

I have a 200 Mariner on my 21 Foot Walkaround I just had new Impellor and lower end serviced, replaced the poppit valve and gasket and still have a week stream coming out peehole. My motor doesnt run hot just doesnt pee as hard as my Mercury or Johnson. Any thoughts?

P.S. I am leaving for the Chesapeak Bay tomorrow to fish Spade and Cobia.

Thanks,

Jerry

Does it pee less than before it was serviced?

Also, make sure it's actually pumping less water than the others, and not just coming out at a lower angle. See how much water comes out in 30 seconds compared to the others.

First things first folks. What year is the motor.........some have a high pressure low volume system and others have a low presure high volume system. Only way to know before you start turning wrenches.

Thanks guys after extensive research I have come to the conclusion that my engine is normal. The mechanic at my local marina said the Mariner that I have will not have a hard stream till it gets warm. On another note my trip to the Bay was killer. My boat and Guys I took with me limited out on Spade caught a ton of Croaker, Spot, Seabass, Flounder and lost several Eels to some massive Cobia.

THANKS FOR HELP ON MOTOR,

JERRY

I run out of Lynn Haven and fish the 3rd and 4th Island on the Bridge. if you are going after Spade they are running about 8 foot down. fish one small splitshots and let it drift past boat. we were using clams.

Good luck,

Jerry

Mr Maretin

In you r first post you said something bout your Mariner not peeing as hard as your Merc and your Johnson. I assume you know that a Merc and a Mariner are the same motors just different dress ...and as well an Evinrude and Johnson are the same. Mariners and Johnsons ORIGINALLY where the saltwater versions of Mercs and Evinrudes.

Anyways there are 2 types of systems on motors.....high pressure with low volume and high volume low pressure.....depends on what year the motor is and as you found out until the t-stats open up the stream isnt going to be as strong......most of todays motors have low volume with high pressure.......older motors have high volume with lower pressures. Now you know why I harp on installing a H2O gauge on just about ANY boat out there. It will tell you INSTANTLY when something is going wrong. If I hadnt had a gauge 2 years ago the day before the tourney I woulda blown the powerhead slam off the lower unit. I came outta a slough onto the main river.......of course balls to the wall........caught a lilypad just right and she wrapped around the lower. Motor had NO water geting into it and within seconds........the time it took to come off pad and shut her down she was hotter than h###. About 3 more seconds and the powerhead woulda been laying in the bottom of the river.
