Outboard and I/O engine oils require an oil that is labeled FWC! That stands for Four stroke Water Cooled! Amsoil is a very fine product, I have been using there products for years! They make a 15W-40 FWC cerified marine oil for your application. Being the person that I am, I would have no problem using an automotive oil but understand this. Automotive engines now days run at very high temps, 200+, and lower RPM's! Outboards and I/O's run at about 140 and very high RPM's, So there is a difference in the engines oil requirements!
