Signs from nature, it's time.
Based on the area you live in, what are some of the signs that it's now prime time for bass fishing after winter has passed. For me, here in northern Indiana, the best spring time bassin starts about the same time the Forsythia bushes are in full bloom. Thats when I know the conditions are now favorable for bass fishing. It always goes hand in hand, without fail.
So what are some signs from nature that hot spring bass fishing is starting in your area?

Here in southern Indiana its usually whenever I hit the water. Went out Saturday and landed 2 only about 12 inches but a catch none the less. In all seriousness though I watch my pear tree. It inevitably blooms nearly mid march based on the weather. I start my weekly commute during its first bloom. I'd be interested to hear everyone else's opinions on this.

It's Robins here.
In Illinois where I fish a pair of Loons stop for like a week or so of feeding on their way up to Dean's Resort. Actually pretty neat to see so far south and inland. Hearing Loons in the early morning is maybe the neatest sound I ever heard. Man Keith, why do you do this to me? Anyway, haven't seen or heard either.

Unfortunately, signs of nature don't matter to the start of bass fishing here since bass season is always closed until the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. |

Here in the Carolinas when the Bradford Pears bloom pre-spawn is underway. Trumps water temp-calender-anything else.

5rd or 6th baseball game is when things start to heat up! At least my first year it was like that! I'd take a rod with me to practice and hop the outfield fence afterwards and catch a couple before I'd go home. No really a sign of nature... but it works! lol
