So who is deer hunting?
I leave the rig tomorrow and youth season is open for my boys. I should have a .243 barrel and adjustable stock for my TC and it is going to be an early Christmas present to them. I haven't hunted much in a few years, but sort of looking forward to it this year. I guess since we actually have a place to go, it helps sweeten the mood. But who else is hunting and let's see some pics. It doesn't have to be a BC or PY, just a good tale. Not too far from fishing.

I haven't been deer hunting in probably 15 years. Still have my trusty .270 and a 12 gauge, but I haven't shot either of them in forever.
Good luck. I hope the boys get a big 'un....

Been bow hunting since late September. Killed a doe early October. Had a yearling and run right past the stand and then the doe came right in behind it and stopped at 12 yards. She ran not 20 yards before tipping over and expiring! Haven't had many bucks come by, unfortunately. One little 6 pointer the first time I went on the private land I hunt and that's been it for that area. I've got a doe coming in every time I call Ms. Button. She's got two little button bucks and busts me nearly every time I see her. She's on the hit list for next year cause the land owner only lets me shoot one doe a year! They started rutting pretty good in the last week or so, so the best hunting's ahead still! Crappy weather this weekend though, but still gonna be in the woods! Depending on the wind I'll set up inside the woods from a field or hunt some public land.
Have fun with your boys bubba!

Congrats to you Sammy. All I can suggest is moving your stand if you're getting busted. Those blows travel a long ways.

I gave it up years ago.
I just don't have the patience to sit still long enough for a deer to come in

I'm planning on getting out next week if I can. Got a new box call so I can bring in a turkey or two. Going to try and get out with my nephew over T-day weekend too. Issue with both counties that I'll be hunting in is that they are shotgun only and I don't own a bow or muzzleloader so my options are limited.
And any pics I post will be of trees and maybe a squirrel or two. |

Nice going Sam!!
I'm sure I will get out over the next month or so. My dad killed an 8 and a doe at our place last week and my uncle killed another 8 there opening weekend. I probably won't shoot anything but it's fun to sit in the stand and watch. I just don't get excited about killing deer anymore.

I haven't hunted for about 8 years. I miss going and get excited each fall thinking about it though. Nothing like being out in the woods in a couple of inches of snow with more falling. Something so peaceful about being there and watching everything unfold with the first light of the day. Almost the same as being out on the lake at the crack of dawn.

I bagged a 7 pointer on 11/15. Big body swamp buck. Also won some cash an a liter of crown royal black!

We went a few times but only saw 3 on one of the trips. But when they stepped out, I could see Tanner's heart beat in his neck and he got the heavy breath (glad he brushed his teeth). He has definately got the fever. Hopefully we will catch a little more movement when I return home Dec 10 and get Dylan to see a couple.
